At approximately 0215, Thursday morning the Athens Fire Dept. was dispatched for a structure fire at 18 Kurtz St. Upon arrival a fire was discovered at the rear of the structure which had extended to the attic area.
Also discovered were two dumpster fires next to Palmer Place Apts., as well as, two separate fires within Palmer Place. Another structure fire was discovered at 25 Kurtz on the rear deck.
All fires were extinguished by 0515.
Approximate damage to both structures total $300,000.
The fires are currently under investigation by APD, AFD, and the State Fire Marshal’s office.
