New Parking Kiosks on West Union Street are Operational

APD Badge

Athens Police Department would like to announce that in an effort to better serve the public, parking needs and address violations two kiosks are now operational on W Union St. Also, new signage that indicates the parking regulations, parkmobile zones, methods of payment, space numbers and other rules has been installed.  The kiosks offer more ways to pay for parking as you can use coins, $1 bills and credit cards.
Our Parking Enforcement Officers have been giving warnings and information about the rules in the area this week.  Citations will be issued for all violations starting on Monday November 6th at 8am.   All other parking meter rules and regulations in other areas uptown remain in full effect and enforcement.
It is always a good idea to read all signs, stickers and decals on or near a parking meter.
I would also like to remind citizens that as before, our meters and these spaces without meters can be paid via Parkmobile cell phone app.  Smart cards can be purchased for the Parking Garage meters at Utilities Billing in the City Building.
Questions can be answered by our Parking Enforcement Officers on the street or at 740-592-3308.
