Shelly and Sands, the Contractor for the Richland Avenue Bridge Over Oxbow Creek, is working this week on installing the temporary fencing and temporary lighting for the project. They also expect to begin the removal of the bridge deck and continue work on the north abutment.
During this phase of construction the Richland Avenue Bridge will be closed to all vehicular and pedestrian traffic, the complete bridge closure is expected to last until August 21.
Vehicular Detours will be clearly marked and are as follows:
From South Richland Avenue to Uptown:
•? From Richland Avenue turn Left at South Shafer Street
•? Follow South Shafer Street to West Union Street
•? Turn Right at West Union Street
From Uptown to South Richland Avenue:
•? North (one-way) on South Court Street to Washington
•? Turn Left onto Washington Street
•? Turn Left onto South Congress Street
•? Turn Right at West Union Street
Be aware, once the bridge is closed there may be some delays on South Shafer Street and West Union Street.
The area under the bridge will also be closed to pedestrian and vehicular traffic. The Baker Center Parking Garage will remain open.
