The City of Athens has been moving forward with some anti-graffiti efforts. We are developing a core Graffiti Task Force group called T.A.G. (Targeting Area Graffiti) Task Force. We hope to be expanding this graffiti task force with a community volunteer group, much like a neighborhood watch where citizens become the helpful eyes and ears throughout our community dealing with the graffiti problem.
This Friday 11/15 and Saturday 11/16 we will kick off some of our removal efforts. On Friday (9am - 2pm) the high school "Make a Difference Day" will have five students help us remove some of the graffiti from our street signs and other places.
On Saturday the SAE Fraternity will be supplying approximately 50 college students for some graffiti removal efforts around town. Their times will be approximately 10am - 1pm.
These dates are with the weather cooperating of course. If it is raining, snowing, or very cold we will have to reschedule the dates. Thank you.
You may contact ASSD Ron Lucas (City Hall PIO) for additional information about our efforts.
