Description:

In Ceramics class, students will get a chance to experience different techniques to create art with clay. Our theme this session will be Fantastic Planet!

Fantastic Planet Project Descriptions:

Fantasy Houses

Using a slab building technique students will build up the walls to a house on a distant imagined planet. The houses will be glazed, to add a personalized touch!

Alien Riders

In the tradition of Star Wars and Avatar the Last Air Bender, students will design a fantastical creature that is used as a mode of transportation on their Dream Planet! The creature will be made of clay, decorated with glazes, and completed with a rider constructed out of air dry clay.

Middle School Student Schedule:

2:45-3:00pm: students arrive

3:00-3:30pm: Snack Time / Hang Out (students bring their own snack)

3:30-5:00: Lesson Time

5:00-5:30: Wind Down, Cleanup & Departure time

***Please Note that After School Arts Classes will be canceled if The Athens City Schools are canceled or dismiss early due to Snow. A credit for the missed class will then be issued to the students' account.

About the Instructor:

Emily Beveridge is an artist, arts educator and The Program Specialist for Arts West. She has decades of experience teaching classes, at camps, and outreach opportunities for children in the visual arts. She loves creating art with children, especially ceramics projects and anything humorous or animal themed!
