The City of Athens announces that a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements Project will be held Friday, December 18, 2015 at 11:00 am at the Wastewater Treatment Plant office building, 38 East Park Drive. A tour of the new facilities will begin at 9:30 am, preceding the ceremony.
The Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements Project included new influent pumping, preliminary treatment, primary and secondary clarifiers, ultraviolet disinfection, and construction of a septage receiving station. Design of the project began in 2011, with construction commencing in 2013. Strand Associates designed the project and completed inspection services. The prime contractor for the project was Building Crafts, Incorporated.
This project was funded through local sewer funds and through Water Pollution Control Loan Funds administered through the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency.
