[ARCHIVED] Dairy Lane Bridge Rehabilitation Project

George J. Igel & Co. Inc., the Contractor for the Dairy Lane Bridge Rehabilitation Project, is expected to begin construction activities the week of April 18, 2016.

The Dairy Lane Bridge Project is located on Dairy Lane, between 8167 Dairy Lane (OHIO Ecohouse) and 8000 Dairy Lane (Dairy Barn Arts Center), and includes replacing the superstructure of the bridge.

The project will be completed in phases.
• Phase 1, April 18 - April 24: this phase includes preliminary work on the abutment footings and wingwalls. There may be times when traffic is flagged through the construction zone.

• Phase 2, April 25 - May 26: this phase includes removal and replacement of the bridge deck and approach slabs. The construction zone will be closed to traffic and a detour will be in place. Dairy Lane is expected to reopen to traffic between May 27 - May 31, 2016.

• Phase 3, June 1 - June 10: this phase includes the installation of the railing and completion of the Dairy Lane Bridge project. The construction zone will be closed to traffic and a detour will be in place.

The project is funded by the City of Athens and the Ohio Public Works Commission.
