York Paving, the Contractor for the Franklin Avenue Infrastructure Improvements project, is expecting to begin work on the project on Wednesday, July 27.
The infrastructure improvements project includes upgrades to the stormwater system, replacing out-of-date water meters with new water meters, replacing specific sections of damaged curb and sidewalk, and constructing standard curb ramps at street intersections. Franklin Avenue will be resurfaced with asphalt once the utility work and sidewalk work has been completed.
Traffic will be maintained on Franklin Avenue, but there will be times when parking is restricted in the Contractor's work zone.
The project is being funded by Community Development Block Grant funds and local funds.
Questions or concerns may be directed to the City of Athens Engineering and Public Works Department, 740-593-7636.
