[ARCHIVED] 2016 Street Improvements Schedule - Franklin Avenue

The City of Athens Engineering & Public Works Department has contracted with York Paving to complete the 2016 Street Improvements, which will include milling and paving.

 

Pavement milling is the removal of sections of old pavement with a grinder in order to ensure new pavement is placed at the proper elevation.

The Contractor expects to begin milling and patching on Franklin Avenue on Monday, November 7.  The Contractor will begin paving Franklin Avenue once patching has been completed, and expects paving to be complete by the end of the week.

Parking on the street will not be allowed during the scheduled work. On street parking will be removed in the work zone 24 hours in advance of work days. Sections of Franklin Avenue will be closed to traffic as work progresses - motorists are asked to avoid the area and to follow all traffic control devices.

This schedule is subject to change in the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
