The Contractor for the E. State Street Project is planning to install conduit across Community Center Drive and City Park Drive on Wednesday, April 18. This work involves removing a section of asphalt, excavating, installing conduit, and backfilling with an aggregate material.
The work will begin at approximately 7 am at the Community Center Drive intersection, and is expected to be complete by noon. During this time, the Contractor will close half of Community Center Drive at a time, and vehicles will be allowed to enter or exit, based on which side of the drive is closed. Community Center patrons are advised to follow traffic control signs.
After the Community Center Drive work is completed, the Contractor will begin installing conduit across City Park Drive (near the solar panels). City Park Drive is expected to be closed during the Contractor's work, and is expected to re-open by 5:30 pm.
The work will not impact Athens Transit or GoBus schedules.
