The City of Athens will be flushing hydrants on the following date(s): July 11th Between the hours of 8:00 AM and 4:00 PM. The areas affected will be:West Union St. from Jefferson to Ste. Rte. 682 and Herrold Ave. You may experience discolored water in these areas due to iron sediment in the bottom of the lines being stirred up from increased flow. The water remains safe. Normally, no boil order will be issued for hydrant testing, but the city recommends you do not wash laundry during this time.
