The City of Athens Engineering & Public Works Department will begin the 2019 Street Improvements, which will include milling, paving, and crack sealing of various streets within the City.
The following streets are included in annual paving:
Cable Lane, Carroll Road , Columbus Road, High Street , Hillcrest Drive, Hooper Street, Richland Avenue, South Shafer Street, Stimson Avenue, West Washington Street, West Green Canyon – Between Grosvenor and Irvine Halls, North Ridge Drive, South Green Drive, and Kantner Hall Alley.
Paving will begin August 19 on the following streets:
Richland Avenue – Shafer Street to Hocking River
Shafer Street – Richland Avenue to Union Street
South Shafer – Field Drive to South Convo Drive
Carroll Road - Roxbury Drive to Dove Drive
This schedule is subject to change in the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Two-way traffic will be maintained with flaggers; however, motorists are encouraged to avoid the work areas.
Parking on the street will not be allowed during the scheduled work. On street parking will be removed 24 hours in advance of work days. Please direct questions to the Engineering and Public Works Department at 593-7636.
