[ARCHIVED] Effective March 16th @ 9:00 p.m. the Athens Community Center will be closed until further notice

Athens Community Center Closed

Dear Community Center Patrons and Members:

In accordance with Governor Mike DeWine’s most recent announcement on Sunday March15th the Athens Community Center will close on Monday March 16th at 9:00 pm until further notice. The Community Center (West Entrance) will be open to the public on Tuesday March 17th for the Athens County Board of Elections as a polling location.

Given the high volume of people who pass through our facility each day, it would be extremely difficult to implement the mandatory public health guidance as it relates to social distancing. Our decision supports all other statewide efforts to combat the spread of coronavirus and keep our citizens and employees safe.

Arts. Parks and Recreation has also postponed or cancelled all programming, rentals and events at the Community Center and Art West through April 3, 2020.

This is a list of programs that have been canceled or postponed to date. These programs will remain canceled or postponed thru April 3rd. Before & After Care, Preschool, Wee Wigglers, Afternoon Arts, Unified Basketball, Child Watch, Cat Pajamas. Our Spring classes and outdoor programs remain tentatively scheduled as planned.
