Please be reminded that it is your responsibility to maintain your property so as to comply with Athens City Code §9.10 which prohibits grass and weeds exceeding 8 inches in height and/or reaching maturity. In addition, in accordance with Athens City Code §9.12.21 it is unlawful to allow any tree, shrubbery, vine or other growing thing to extend upon or over the public sidewalks and streets that would prevent free and unobstructed traffic.
Failure to maintain these minimum standards prompts the Office of Code Enforcement to initiate action which may result in a contractor being directed to mow or trim your property. All expenses and labor incurred will be billed to you as the property owner including an administrative fee with a total of no less than $100.00. All amounts not paid to the Office of Code Enforcement will be forwarded to the Athens County Auditor and entered on the property tax duplicate as a lien of the property.
