ARTS/West Presents the Final Concert of the Athens Rock Camp for Girls, Saturday, July 13th at 7:00pm.
The Athens Rock Camp for Girls and ARTS/West will be presenting a concert at the end of a week long camp. The camp began Sunday, July 7 and will continue until the final concert on July 13th at 7:00pm. The show will feature the debut performances of “Smolder”, “Necessary Redundancy”, “Fading Grey”, “Macintosh”, and “Soul Takers.” The Athens Rock Camp for Girls builds self-esteem through music creation and performance. By providing workshops and technical training, they create leadership opportunities, cultivate a supportive community of peers and mentors, and encourage social change and the development of life skills. Through community support and monetary donations, they are committed to keeping the Athens Rock Camp for Girls as low cost as possible to enable participation for individuals from all economic backgrounds.
At the camp, girls form bands, learn to play instruments, write songs, and at the end of the week, perform a show. Various workshops are also offered and is staffed only by a variety of volunteers.
