ARTS/West announces The APE Center’s Theater, Arts and Crafts Summer Camp
Athens, OH – The Appalachian Progressive Education (APE) Center will hold its annual Theater, Arts and Crafts Summer Camp this summer during the week of July 29 – August 2, 2013 at ARTS/West. The camp is open to any child ages 5 – 12. There will be a final public performance of the campers' work on Saturday, August 3rd in the early afternoon. Participation in the camp is only $160 for the entire week, 9-4pm and includes all materials needed for the camp, with an option to add early drop-off or late pick-up. During the camp, the participants will write, direct, and perform their very own, original short plays and/or songs. The participants will be broken up by age group and will have the assistance of an adult instructor to help them produce their original works. The participants can sign up for various "positions" within the theater team: costume designer, backdrops and props maker, poster/tickets/program designer, and actor/actress.
The Appalachian Progressive Education Center is a non-profit organization dedicated to conflict resolution through the building of character, confidence and community through the arts. The APE Center provides art enrichment classes, plays, Summer/Spring Break Theater and music camps, bullying prevention programs to children in Southeastern Ohio, as well a new language center for both adults and kids.
