The City of Athens Engineering & Public Works Department has contracted with York Paving Company, Inc. to complete the 2013 Street Improvements, which will include milling, paving, and crack sealing.
Pavement milling is the removal of section of old pavement with a grinder in order to ensure new pavement is placed at the proper elevation.
The milling schedule for the week of July 22nd is as follows:
Street/Area Milling
Kurtz Street from Mill to new pavement July 22
Coss Street from Stewart to end July 22
Meadow Lane from Lincoln to loop July 23
Hope Drive from East State to end July 23-24
Greenbrier Drive from Richland to end July 25
This schedule is subject to change in the event of inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. One lane traffic will be maintained, however, motorists are encouraged to avoid the area. Parking on the street will not be allowed during the scheduled work.
