[ARCHIVED] Columbus Road Bikepath Spur Public Open House March 14, 2014

The Columbus Road Bikepath Spur is a proposed bikepath extension that will connect the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway in northern Athens to the Columbus Road area of the city, near Columbus Circle, through construction of a new non-motorized bridge over the Hocking River.

An Open House will be held Friday, March 14, from 2 pm to 4 pm in the ACENet conference room (Building C - 94 Columbus Road) to gather feedback from citizens on the preferred alignment, and any concerns about the project, environmental issues, historic issues, properties, or features in the project area. Citizens are encouraged to drop by any time between 2 pm and 4 pm for a few minutes and complete a comment form, speak with city officials, and share their thoughts on the alternative. There is no fixed program.

The plan for the Columbus Road Bikepath Spur originated from the City of Athens Comprehensive Plan and the City Bike and Pedestrian Plan. In August 2012, the City received Transportation Alternative Program funds, federal funds administered through the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), for construction of the Columbus Road Bikepath Spur. The City is in the design stage of the project, with construction slated for 2015.
