The Columbus Road Bikepath Spur is a proposed bikepath extension that will connect the Hockhocking Adena Bikeway in northern Athens to the Columbus Road area of the city, near Columbus Circle, through construction of a new non-motorized bridge over the Hocking River.
The Open House was held Friday, March 14, in the ACENet conference room to gather feedback from citizens on the preferred alignment, and any concerns about the project, environmental issues, historic issues, properties, or features in the project area. The information presented at the Open House is available online (see below for link). Comments about the project are being accepted until April 14, 2014 - please see the comment form for instructions on delivering comments.
The plan for the Columbus Road Bikepath Spur originated from the City of Athens Comprehensive Plan and the City Bike and Pedestrian Plan. In August 2012, the City received Transportation Alternative Program funds, federal funds administered through the Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT), for construction of the Columbus Road Bikepath Spur. The City is in the design stage of the project, with construction slated for 2015.
