[ARCHIVED] West Union Street Improvements Project Update

West Union Street Improvements Project Update

The Contractor plans to begin the installation of waterline services on West Union Street between Shafer Street and Depot Street this week. The Contractor is also beginning preliminary work for the signal upgrade at the West Union Street and Shafer Street intersection and continues to work on intersection improvements at the West Union and Smith Street intersection.

West Union Street is closed to through-traffic between Factory Street and Depot Street. Through traffic will be detoured using Station Street - this section of West Union is open to business and local traffic. The through traffic detour is expected to be in place until August 21, 2014. Parking immediately adjacent to the work zone will also be restricted at times during the project. Sections of sidewalk are also closed on West Union Street.

This project consists of installing a new waterline on West Union Street (from S. Shafer Street to S. High Street), completing street improvements, select sidewalk and curb improvements, storm water improvements, and completing an asphalt overlay and pavement markings (S. Shafer Street to S. Congress Street). The project is being funded using local funds and grants from the Ohio Public Works Commission and the Ohio EPA.
