[ARCHIVED] Athens Police Department will once again participate in the DEA "Take Back" initiative.

On Saturday, September 27th, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m., the Athens Police Department will once again participate in the DEA "Take Back" initiative.

This is where people can turn in unused or expired medication for safe disposal. The Athens Police Department will offer two sites available for the drop offs. One site will be in front of the Athens Police Department 11 North College St. where curbside service will take place. Another location will be at the Lowes store on East State St. Both sites will be staffed by police officers for the collection and removal of the items.

You will not need to give your name or show identification when dropping off the medications and the police department will not inventory the items turned in. Liquids and flammable items not accepted. Thank you.
