The City of Athens announces that there will be a road closure for the Park Place water line repair. Mulberry Street work will begin Monday, 4 May, 2015 at 7:00 A. M. The driving lane and North sidewalk will remain open for traffic. The parking and South sidewalk will be closed to allow striping of parking spaces, and select sidewalk and curb repairs. This work will take two weeks.
Work in the Park Place/S. Court Street intersection to repair the City water line is estimated to take four days, and will begin Tuesday, 5 May, 2015. Signage will be placed on Park Place from University Terrace to Court Street stating local traffic only (University Terrace end). Park Place traffic heading west toward Court Street will be detoured routing traffic back around to University Terrace. Mulberry traffic can flow East on Park Place to University Terrace, or North to South Court (current traffic pattern). The cross walk from University Baker Center to Scripps corner will remain open and unrestricted during the project. The City apologizes for any inconvenience and asks motorists to avoid the area if possible.
